Zane: Sure. What movie do you want to watch?

Katie: I am fine. I give him a small smile for reassurance. I have felt better, but I have also felt much worse.

Abbie: *nods* wanna go look through them, see what we can find? *she smiles a bit*

Keynai nods, not wanting to press her further. He walks inside after her and stretches but winces when he feels a sharp pain in his side.

Katie: Are you okay, Keynai? I ask worriedly. I realize that just a minute ago I practically dismissed my own pain, but I have numbed myself to physical pain. Seeing others in even the slightest amount of pain disturbs me, though. This is especially true when the person got hurt because of me.

Katie: Okay. I say reluctantly. I really hope you enjoyed seeing your father again, and I am really sorry about the trouble afterward ruining the outing, though. Why did Blake have to be so cruel and ruin a good day? It was great that Keynai and his father were reconciled. Then my horrible mess had to ruin everything.

Zane: A smile spreads across my face. I actually haven't. Do you want to watch them?

Keynai let out the smallest smile but then it broke into a sudden frown. He grabbed his side and groaned, a surge of pain going up his side. He was clearly in a lot of pain but didn't want to move because that only made it worse.

Katie: Keynai! I feel panic crashing down on me but remain calm on the surface. I am skilled at tending a flesh wound, but internal pains and injuries are another story. We need to get you to the hospital. Can you walk to the garage? You can lean on me if you need to. The garage is close to the living room that we are in being just off the entryway leading into the living room. I don't drive much but there is an old car in there that we can use.

Keynai continues to clutch his side. "Ambulance," he manages to get out. "Call an ambulance..."

Katie: I quickly pull out my phone and call 911. Once I am connected I explain the situation and am told an ambulance will be sent immediately. When the call is over I say They're on the way.

Keynai coughs a bit, covering his mouth. When he brings his hand away he doesn't even notice the spots of blood. Sliding down the wall, he still clutches his side and closes his eyes as if that would help him ignore the pain. He then goes into a short coughing fit.

William hears and walks in from the hallway. His eyes are instantly wide and he runs over to Keynai. "Keynai!" he cries. Looking at Katie, he asks, "What happened?!" Without waiting for her answer, he gently moves Keynai's arm and lifts the side of his shirt to make sure it wasn't a flesh wound. He presses Keynai's side lightly, which makes Keynai cringe and cough. William then sees the blood on Keynai's hand. "He must've punctured something!" He looks at Katie. "Ho-"

"Calm... down... Will..." Keynai manages to get out.

William seems to flare up instantly at that. "Calm down?! You could die!"

Keynai gives Will a reassuring smile that lasts about a few seconds before breaking into a part of a pained expression.

Katie: I hear the sound of a vehicle pulling into the driveway and rush to the door. I usher in the ambulance drivers in as they drag in a gurney. The drivers gently get Keynai on the gurney and rush him back to the ambulance.

William looks at Katie. "If you have a car, I need it now. I'm going with him."

Katie: I nod. It's in the garage. I'll drive. I collect my keys from a hook by the garage door. If walk over to my old red Nissan and unlock the doors before sliding in the driver seat.

William slides into the passenger seat but is unable to keep himself still. He starts tapping on the door, then his foot on the floor.

Katie: I start the car and pull out of the garage (which had been open) and the driveway onto the road. My hands are shaking as I grip the steering wheel but I barely notice. William's nervous movements make me feel guilty. I'm sorry about all this, William. I say quietly. Soon, we arrive in the hospital parking lot and I pull into the first available spot in sight.

"It's not your fault," he says. Once they are at the hospital, William runs in. He is told to wait but he paces, walking back and forth.

Katie: I follow Will into the hospital. When we are told to wait, I sit down in one of the chairs and think. If I had just done as Blake wanted me to a few years back, none of this would have happened. Blake wouldn't be angry with me. Absently, a tiny piece of glass in my hair catches my attention and I grab it out. Blake's violence toward me wouldn't stop no matter what though. I endured years of his misdirected anger but things got worse after I called thing off.

William notices Katie take glass out of her hair and is suddenly reminded of the question he never got an answer to. "What happened?" It came out as more of a demand than he'd intended, but he had to know. It was bothering him to no end.

Katie: On our way back from seeing Keynai's father, a man named Blake and his friend interrupted us. Blake grabbed me and took off while Keynai was fighting with the other guy. I was alone with Blake in some abandoned building for a little while until Keynai came in and stopped him.
